1. The Concord Arena is located within a hundred yards of Route 93 in Concord. As the Book Fair no longer coincides with the NASCAR Race, the Sunday drive to and from the Fair is a breeze.
2. Browse through over 25,000 fine books. Browing
and shopping at a book fair is not like browsing in a general bookshop. Dealers
who set up at a show generally bring their best and most interesting books.
Those dealers who sell online often bring their new stock to our Fair before
it goes up for sale on the Internet.
3. Hold a book in your hands before you buy it! Buying
books on the internet is fine, but of no use if you want to check the contents
or condition of a book first hand before you purchase it.
4. Have 600 years of book seller experience at your
service. Over 60 dealers with an average time in the business of over
10 years is a resource not to be ignored.
5. You pay no sales tax at the Fair - there is no
Sales Tax in New Hampshire, and you also save on shipping since you can carry
your books home with you.
6. Tell the dealers your interests ahead of time. Operation INTEREST MATCH lets you tell exhibitors what books to bring to the Fair. For more information click on INTEREST MATCH
7. Find books that are not on the Internet.Three of
the largest New Hampshire dealers do not list their books on the Internet.
They will be at the Fair together with a number of smaller dealers who have
yet to go online
8. Enjoy lunch out by the Merrimack River. Pack a
picnic lunch or purchase lunch at the Arena. Then take a break from book
hunting and sit in the little park out behind the Arena where you can enjoy
a peaceful moment on a warm September afternoon.
9. Enjoy dinner after the Fair. Concord has a number of nice restaurants, or ask one of the exhibitors of their favorite eating spots on your route home.
10. Meet experts in your speciality. If you find a dealer who specializes in books in your area of interest, you have found an expert who will delight in answering your questions. He may also have the book you are looking for back at his shop or can point you to someone who does.
11. Talk books with fellow booklovers, make new friends and renew old friendships
